Survey Shows Water Crisis is Public’s Main Concern 2010-02-11, People’s Daily, Beijing, China

Corporate Social Responsibility Research Center of Chinese Academy of Social Science (CASS) released a Corporate Social Responsibility Survey 2010 and the top ten issues of corporate social responsibility on Tuesday. The public's main concern is the water crisis, pollution and food safety.

The survey shows 58 percent of respondents believe corporate social responsibility (CSR) of China's enterprises has been improved. 83 percent of respondents think the government should be the main force encouraging firms to fulfill their social responsibility, followed by the media and the public.

And 74 percent of respondents believe besides the enterprises, the government and social organizations should also fulfill their social responsibilities.

However, the top ten issues of the CSR, launched at the seminar on China's top ten issues of the CSR outlook on Tuesday, are different form that selected by the public.

They are creating jobs, tackling climate change, food safety, independent innovation and more.
